Getting Started
Watch a short video with the most important tips by Dr. Susko's Tips to get started with your new Cadense Adaptive Shoes.
Walk Normally
We have found that most people acclimate to the shoe quickly, within the first walking session, but others take a week or so to feel completely comfortable. For some people, it takes time to begin to trust the shoe to transition from low-friction to high-friction.
Test the shoe Slowly
Always test the shoe slowly in new situations or on new walking surfaces. This shoe has been designed to be worn inside and outside. It will work on most normal or low carpeting. High carpeting or grass have the potential to reduce the effectiveness of the variable friction mechanism, so please test the shoe slowly before going at maximum speed.
Standing Up
When transitioning from a seated position to a standing position, first transfer your weight to the shoes before standing. In doing so, you will engage the high-friction mechanism of the shoes so that standing can be done safely. Avoid quick transitions where the foot is not pressed firmly into the ground.
Be careful on stairs
We recommend using extra caution when using the Cadense adaptive shoes on stairs. Always make sure that weight has been placed on the shoe before making your upward or downward motion. Always use a hand railing.
